Wild wood anemones creep into the garden from the hedgerows, most have between five and seven petals which are flushed pink on the reverse.
The occasional one has between eight and ten petals.

The pink flush on the reverse is delicate and lovely, not everyone would notice it.

You know, if I hadn’t been reading garden blogs for the last year I might have missed it too. I’m learning to take the time to look much more closely at plants and flowers which I think is a rather marvellous thing.

They are lovely to have in the garden no matter how many petals they have. They look such a pure white from the front in bright sunshine, I was quite surprised by the pink on the reverse.
