It is lovely with its delicate etching. Many Siberian Iris do very well on heavy clay and also complement the grasses, they’re a favourite combination with me.
Thanks, the low contrast of today’s cloudy skies has probably helped keeping the colour true. Last week, in bright sunshine, it might have been harder to get an accurate image.
You must have been out early with a tiny paintbrush painting those lovely edges! My dutch irises leaves are up now Winter here but nice warm sun out. Racked up leaves yesterday – wet piles – into compost today. Our flowering cherries have turned lovely colours very late. Was a very warm Autumn – warmest May ever apparently. No frost here at the ‘Sheep and Shag’ B&B so more sub-tropical.
Oh, what a splendid idea. I often think how I’d love to have lots of them to plant in the deschampsia meadow which is a bit short of flowering interest in early summer. Thank you for the inspiration!
Beautiful, I must look for this one!

What a glorious colour and filigree markings. I find it so hard to take photos of these tones. Well done!

They do look painted-on, don’t they? Good to hear you are enjoying fine autumn weather.

I’m pleased you like them, I hadn’t noticed how pronounced they were until weeding around them recently – they are really eye catching.

They really do have a silver edge. Beautiful and great photo. Shame they could have named it silver lining.

Now this is a beauty. Gorgeous. Have you tried growing on the seeds? They don’ t come true but that is part of the fun.
