You are a close observer! Perhaps you spotted the round, spilt seeds to the side of the seed head?

It’s a very dark shadow so the sun must have been quite stron – a lovely shot that emphasises the shape of the seedpods

Yes the afternoon sun was so startlyingly strong, I hid in the shade and so just happened to notice the patterns of shadow it cast.

Poppies, in all their guises, are highly seductive! That’s why we called our youngest dog after them.

As the seasons turned, our late summer/early autumn has been just like this, mixed and full of contrasting bright lights along with long, deep shadows.
