Oh yum – hope you have plenty of garlic and butter to go with them!

I hate to think …. Funny how sea molluscs are more popular.

Oh yukk! We have about a million snails too, but I have never seen a cluster like that before!

Neither had I, first time I’ve peeped into this disused store shed all year …. at least I know where to find them now😉.

Poor you. I hate to ask, but what are you going to do with them?

I admit, there were so many, I sent them off to the recycling centre in the green bin. Was that a dreadful thing to do?

Scary, eh? They sure weren’t there when the joiner came to measure up for a new shed door in early September – maybe I’m lucky to have found their winter lair?

It was quite a surprise, interesting to find that as snails are highly successful hermaphrodites this lot could all be very, very closely related.

Wow, I have never seen that many snails in one place. I did try eating a snail for the first time in August. Not a fan.

It’s a first for us, too. Even if I liked eating them, which I don’t, the experience of prising them off that door would have put me off. In extreme conditions they resourcefully produce a super-slime which then sets like concrete to seal them in until conditions improve …. Eek!

What an amazing picture, Kate – slugs and snails are generally more discreet in their procreation!
