I had forgotten what burdock looks like – I used to know so many of the wild flowers…mind you, that was way, way before my head was filled with the names of cultivated plants instead!!
I guess there are cultivated plants to match the form of most wild flowers, maybe in this case the tamed garden version would be something like Cirsium rivale.
I hate them. Sadie’s coat is a bit sheep-like and they are murder to get off her, because they invariably break up and I end up pulling out more than just seed heads. BTW there is a fun link in the ads bit at the bottom of your page telling the story of the Burryman (also here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Burryman if you can’t see it). Anyhow, regardless of how I feel about burdock, your photos are very beautiful!
They do look beautiful, although sticky! I remember these from childhood. We had many of them in the area, and I always managed to come home with some stuck to me.
I’ ve never thought of them as beautiful, but you make them look lovely. What a nuisance they are getting all over your clothes and the dog too.

The seedheads are like nature’s Velcro! Still, they look good in the right setting and I can’t help but admire them.

Oh, indeed, how I agree, I’d rather enjoy them in the wilds than introduce them into the garden. What a fun link, thanks Alison.
